Online Summer Camp: English for Young Scientists
In the English for Young Scientists online summer camp, learners will exercise their English-language and problem-solving skills while conducting fun STEM experiments. Campers will use their natural curiosity, ingenuity, and creativity through daily hands-on activities in an all-English learning environment. Learning Goals
This online summer camp pursues these 4 main learning objectives:

Campers will practice reading STEM supply lists and build new vocabulary as they complete hands-on interactive projects.

Campers will “train their ears” and “loosen their tongue” in conversational English through active collaboration with the instructor and fellow campers.

Campers will further their comprehension and expression in English while sharing their understanding of STEM concepts through ample opportunities for rehearsing their listening and speaking skills in an all-English learning environment.

Campers will gain experience in online collaboration through moderated group activities to solve daily STEM challenges.

Time Commitment
45 to 60 minutes each day during the week-long summer camp.

Homework
Campers will have no homework assignments other than preparing the supplies for each experiment.

Language of Instruction
This is an all-English summer camp, with limited encouragement and support given in the learners’ first language: Spanish

Supply List
A list of materials for each experiment will be provided in advance. Campers will want to have a variety of supplies on hand - e.g. construction paper, scissors, glue, ruler, tape, rubber bands, strings, clips, etc.

Learning Progress
There will be no formal evaluation, as the instructor will monitor and encourage each camper's willingness to participate in the camp activities, ensuring that everyone learns in a safe and respectful environment.
